About Linda

A graduate of Rutgers University with a double major in music and English, Linda Kaufman taught high school for fifteen years while maintaining a successful private piano studio. She has been the music specialist for several Reform temples, including the young people’s music program at Temple Beth-El in San Antonio, Texas.

For the past decade, she has been the co-director, writer and composer for an award-winning play production company in San Antonio. She has also written scripts and music for several community theatre productions, winning two Globe Awards for Best Original Score for Estherella and Out of Ur. One of her original songs was recently included in Wonders and Miracles, a Passover companion compiled by Eric Kimmel and published by Scholastic Press.

Since the fall of 2000, Ms. Kaufman has written a monthly column, entitled Mishugas, for the San Antonio Jewish Journal. Her articles are humorous and informative commentaries on contemporary life, popular with both Jewish and non-Jewish readers. Her delightful columns are now being released on CD’s as Mishugas Live!

In addition, Ms. Kaufman has recently completed a memoir, What’s a Nice Jewish Girl Doing In A Place Like This? – available soon on CD.
